Session 5b: Servant Leadership

In order to lead, we must first serve. It is hard to refute this statement. However, it is even harder to live according to this principle. So often our best intentions are impeded by all of our daily challenges. The session will focus on centering us on several guiding principles of Servant Leadership, trust and commitment. In addition to enhancing our leadership skills, we will also develop plans to enhance the effectiveness of our teams.

Pamela Hassett, Principal and Chief Coaching Officer for DnP Solutions, shared information on the importance of correctly reporting and sharing financials. Chuck Seifert, Professor of Management at Siena College, led us in discussion on Servant Leadership.  We explored the importance of building trust and correctly using power in organizations to successfully build commitment in our teams and workplaces. A trauma informed perspective is a critical component to becoming a servant leader. We hope that the insights gained here will be valuable as you lead others in your Parish, School, and Community.
